I-280 N/B CLOSURE IN SAN FRANCISCO

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close northbound Interstate 280 from the U.S. 101/I-280 interchange to downtown San Francisco. This closure is necessary to replace a bridge hinge on northbound I-280 between Cesar Chavez Street and 24th Street. An additional closure is planned for the Labor Day Holiday weekend.

Interstate 280 Northbound will close on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 9:00 PM, and will reopen on Monday, July 7, 2014 by 5:00 AM.
California Highway Patrol Officers will be providing traffic control in support of this closure. Motorists who work or reside in the affected areas are asked to utilize alternate routes and anticipate heavier than normal traffic on surrounding roadways. Please use public transportation such as: Caltrain, BART, samTrans, and Muni.

We remind everyone that the Independence Day weekend is a Maximum Enforcement Period for the CHP. All available officers will be deployed throughout the Bay Area to focus on DUI enforcement and the enforcement of primary collision factor violations.

Please plan ahead, designate a sober driver, and drive safely!

The July 4th holiday weekend is also a Maximum Enforcement Period for the California Highway Patrol. All available officers will be assigned to road patrol in an effort to focus on DUI and primary collision factor enforcement.
