Construction alert: Sidewalk restoration near Airport and Baden continues through Sunday, July 1

Please note the continued construction updates and traffic impacts in South San Francisco:

 

 

CADENCE PROJECT (Miller Avenue @ Airport Boulevard)

 

AT&T and Comcast are working to install respective services for the project along Cypress Avenue on Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work will affect parking along Cypress Avenue; no parking signs will be placed at affected parking locations. Work should not impact flow of traffic along Cypress Avenue.

 

 

PINEFINO PROJECT (Airport Boulevard @ Baden Avenue)

 

The portion of Cypress Avenue between Baden Avenue and 3rd Lane continues to experience daily lane closures between 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Wednesdays and Fridays, to facilitate material deliveries to the project site.

 

Sidewalk restoration continues through Sunday, July 1. A single lane in the westbound direction is closed along Baden Avenue between Airport Boulevard and Cypress Avenue for sidewalk, curb and gutter work. The lane will be closed daily for the duration of work. Please note a reduction in turning lanes for traffic moving northbound on Airport Boulevard turning left onto Baden Avenue. Commuters may experience brief traffic delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

 

ROTARY TERRACE- FORMERLY “ROTARY SENIOR HOUSING” (310 Miller Avenue)

 

The sidewalk on Miller Avenue, directly in front of the project site, remains closed for the duration of construction activity. Construction crews continue to work on the project daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Street parking spaces located adjacent to the former City “parking lot 6” are reserved for construction crew parking only.

Caltrain Electrification and Station Improvement Work

 

Construction continues along Poletti Way between Grand Avenue and Corporate Drive at the US-101 Northbound off-ramp. Work includes the removal of the sidewalk along Poletti Way. Pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes. Vehicle access to Poletti Way will remain open.

SAN BRUNO CANAL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

 

(South Airport Blvd at North Access Road and 380 Freeway on-ramp)

The San Bruno Canal bridge is CLOSED THROUGH NOVEMBER 2018, due to the deteriorated condition of the piles supporting the bridge.

 

Changeable message signs and detour signage are in place. The traffic control devices are in operation for the duration of the project. Bike path and emergency access are maintained but vehicles will be rerouted. Please follow all signage and safety personnel instructions at all times.

Please note that in an effort to help with traffic congestion especially in the peak afternoon hours, construction traffic flaggers are deployed Monday through Friday between 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

Project Status: Contractor continues installation of a water diverter pipe for work to continue inside the canal.

South San Francisco Station Improvement Project Weekly Update 

Night/Weekend Work

There is no night or weekend work planned.

Weekday Work

 

Monday, July 2 to Friday, July 6, crews will begin preparing to install the temporary shoofly track to be used during construction. Construction activities include the removal of rail and ties. No work will be conducted the night of Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

 

Neighbors may hear additional noises from heavy machinery and equipment backup alarms. We apologize for any inconvenience these activities may occur.

 

Background

Caltrain is preparing to replace the existing South San Francisco Station with a new center boarding platform connecting to a pedestrian underpass. The project consists of track work, signal work, a new 700 foot center board platform with amenities and connectivity to a new pedestrian underpass from the platform to Grand Avenue and Industrial Way. The project improves safety and will provide increased connectivity along Grand Avenue for the City of South San Francisco. The improvements will also make the station fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construction is expected to be complete in Fall 2019.
