El Camino HS Alumnus Making a Change in the World

South San Francisco, CA   April 12, 2017  by Erick Ostorga

PREFACE: Erick Ostorga,  alumni of El Camino High School Class of 2015, continues his educational career at San Francisco State University where he is part of an amazing business organization; Alpha Kappa Psi. Their main focus is growth and service to the community.

OPERATION: “Destroy, Build, Destroy”

Throughout my lifetime I’ve witnessed and experienced what poverty, illiteracy and other low expectations may cause to an individual and a whole nation. I consider myself as one of the “lucky ones” for being part of this amazing country which has an abundance of resources to extend a helping hand.
I am part of BuildOn, a non profit organization at SFSU and our mission is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education.

My goal:
-Destroy: the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations around the world, more specifically SENEGAL!
-Build: I plan to travel abroad and personally help to build a school to share the wonders of knowledge.
-Destroy: The thoughts of WANTING to help and instead MAKE them a reality.

You can help make a sustainable difference in the world!

Thank you for considering joining the buildOn movement, a cause I’m very passionate about! buildOn is a non-profit organization with the mission to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education.

Since 1992, buildOn has built roughly 1,000 schools in Nicaragua, Haiti, Mali, Senegal, Malawi, Nepal and – most recently – Burkina Faso. There are currently over 100,000 student attending those schools! Students include, children, parents and even grandparents!

I’m committed to funding buildOn’s next primary school! By making a tax-deductible donation through my personal fundraising page, you will help me to reach my goal and help to bring the gift of education to people who need it the most!

buildOn schools are constructed in partnership with the very people who benefit from them, which means your donation not only educates – it also empowers an entire community.

I plan to travel abroad and help to build the school myself!!

Even a small donation will help! The process is fast, easy, and secure.

Thank you for your support!
