Farewell to Gus Vellis as he retires from City Parks & Rec

South San Francisco,  CA   July 1, 2014  Submitted by SSF Parks & Recreation

All too often we find out after the fact another one of our special City employees has left and we didn’t get a chance to day good bye or thank you. Big thanks to the outreach of our Parks & Recreation for passing this message on. Please feel free to add your well wishes in our comment section. And a BIG thanks to Gus for the decades of service to all of us and our city. We are better for you being here!

On June 27, we bid farewell to Recreation Supervisor Gus Vellis, who oversaw both the Sports and Aquatics Divisions.  After 39 years of committed service, Gus has decided to retire from the City of South San Francisco. In addition to his work in Sports and Aquatics, Gus supported many other community programs, including the Coastal Cleanup, Beautification Committee, and Halloween Extravaganza.  We thank Gus for his many years of service and dedication to the residents of South San Francisco.
