Helen Mae Cain (Engle)
Jan. 23, 1934-Nov. 20, 2012

Passed suddenly, yet peacefully, while surrounded by family and friends in S.S.F. Helen was born in Berkeley to the late Louis and Myrtle Engle. At age 10, they moved to Maple Valley, WA. She was raised on a farm and developed a deep love for animals. Helen graduated as Valedictorian from Tahoma High School.

Helen worked as a civilian executive secretary for the US ARMY at the Port of Embarkation (WA). At 21, she transferred to Bordeaux, France and later to Heidelberg, Germany. While in Europe, she volunteered her evenings singing to Military Personnel in various clubs.

Helen met her late husband Robert ‘Bob’ Cain (United Airline employee of 40 years, passing in 1998) at a USO dance in Portland, OR. They were married in 1958, settling in SSF, enjoying a loving 40 year relationship. Helen kept active in her church and choir, SSF Boys & Girls Club, various PTAs, SSF PAL, and was dedicated to singing with the Peninsula Choraliers. She also became involved in the Society for Aviation History, USS Toledo Association (CA-133) and as secretary for the Retired United Airlines Employees Association. She loved her garden, fabric painting, traveling, her family, and all of her animals.

Helen is survived by her beloved Children: Roger Cain (Darlene) of SSF, Valerie Brunicardi (Michael) of Burl, and Christine Kunis (Scott) of RWC. Grandchildren: Christopher Jones; Tony, Steven, Andrew, Justin and Nicole Brunicardi; Trevor and Sarah Cziska, Allison and Kelsey Kunis; and her late grandson Dallas Jones. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, 3PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 1500 Easton Dr., Burl. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Pets In Need (871 5th Ave., RWC, CA 94063).

Helen was a professional singer with the voice of an angle. Helen was the best friend that I ever had.
To this day I think of her and all that she has given the world with all her God given talents. To this day her outstanding image remains in my mind and I thank God for bringing her into my life. Her spirit lives on. August 13, 2020
Wish she was with us today!!!!!!!!!

So sorry to hear about your loss Roger. Losing a Mom is the hardest thing.
I still think about my Mom every time I see a woman and her elderly mother at the grocery store.
Wish I was still doing that with my Mom.
