James Leitner is volunteering to raise money for The Philadelphia-Serengeti Alliance. He has been travelling across the US from Princeton, NJ to the Golden Gate Bridge pulling a cart loaded with 90lbs of water. He began is journey shortly after completing 12 marathons in 12 months, carrying 45lbs of water in each marathon. As of September 18th, James was in Sacramento, CA. He hopes to complete his mission on October 6th.

James has been volunteering with the Alliance since he was a student at the University of Delaware. A few years ago, he travelled to Tanzania where he learned about, and worked on, several of their water projects in the northern Serengeti region. James approaches the water well development, maintenance, and repair from three perspectives: gender equality, education, and health. The public health benefits of clean water are obvious. In addition, women and children are saddled with the overwhelming burden of obtaining and transporting water, reducing their educational attainment and their opportunities for personal development.

James is a yoga instructor and an avid rock climber. He has an extensive website with numerous links: http://www.missioncleanwater.com. His social media includes a facebook page, update daily: https://www.facebook.com/groups/175956796241430/.
