South City High Parade of Champions Set for May 3rd at 3:30PM from SSFHS to Orange Memorial Park

South San Francisco, CA  April 21, 2018

The public is invited to the South San Francisco High School Championship Parade on Thursday May 3, 2018 beginning at 3:30P.M. as our City celebrates the historical achievements made by our High School teams. “I am proud and excited for South City High, our School District and our Community.” Mayor Liza Normandy said. “It is through hard work, determination and motivation of these students, their coaches and family that they earned the Championship titles”.

This event, co-sponsored by SSFHS and the City of South San Francisco, will begin at the school and then down B Street, right on Orange Avenue, circling Orange Memorial Park before heading back to the High School. Athletes will be driven in classic convertible cars and will be led by the Cheer Squad and Band with other dignitaries in attendance including Mayor Liza Normandy, our District officials, San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa, and Assemblymen Kevin Mullin and Phil Ting. The streets will be closed to traffic with the South San Francisco Police controlling the area. A rally is planned at the conclusion of the parade at the High School complete with DJ’s, live music, food and an Awards Presentation.

Take advantage of this opportunity to come out and meet the incredible players who won the championships in all three areas: Girls Basketball, Winter Guard, and Girls Soccer as they won the distinction of  Division champions, PAL and CCS Champions. This is a shining moment in our City’s history and these students deserve the accolades, please be there to cheer them on!

Having served two terms on the South San Francisco School Board prior to her election to City Council, Mayor Normandy is especially proud of the accomplishments earned by the students. “I look forward to meeting our players and sharing in this historic moment” she said. “They bring out the best in our City.”
