The book selection for April is Anything is Possible by Elizabeth Strout.

“Here are two sisters: One trades self-respect for a wealthy husband while the other finds in the pages of a book a kindred spirit who changes her life. The janitor at the local school has his faith tested in an encounter with an isolated man he has come to help; a grown daughter longs for mother love even as she comes to accept her mother’s happiness in a foreign country; and the adult Lucy Barton (the heroine of My Name Is Lucy Barton, the author’s celebrated New York Times bestseller) returns to visit her siblings after seventeen years of absence. Reverberating with the deep bonds of family, and the hope that comes with reconciliation, Anything Is Possible again underscores Elizabeth Strout’s place as one of America’s most respected and cherished authors.” – from the publisher.

Now, as a Digital/Social Media Celebrity, Anti-Bullying Activist, and still an acne sufferer, Cassandra will discuss the role of bullying in your child’s life, how it has the potential to shape their future positively or negatively, as well as what we can actually do about the bullying epidemic in the digital age. As a parent, you always want to help your child succeed, but that can feel like an uphill battle when you don’t have the tools and are completely blind to the playing field- from the physical playground to the vast digital space. On April 28 at 2pm, the South San Francisco Public Library and Cassandra will bring you an honest, informative, and even unsettling/revealing discussion on how bullying may be presenting in your child’s life- and what can actually be done about it.
