If You Notice A Blue Light Hanging On Someone’s Porch, This Is The Meaning. … The blue lights conveyed a message of respect and solidarity with officers and their families, as well as helped to raise awareness and get people to stop and think about what it all means.’ the Sungazer explains. And it is with that sentiment Everything South City partnered with local small business owner Nick Tentes and Grand Ave Hardware to help our neighbors show their support. “I like the idea” Nick exclaimed when he was approached “I would like to donate 100 bulbs to this effort in support of our officers.”

We shared our intent to give out blue bulbs at the Monday night vigil held in support of SSFPD Officer Chon‘s recovery from a brutal Thanksgiving Day attack while on duty just down the street from Nick’s shop. “I see our officers out there every day. I appreciate what they do” Nick said. We couldn’t agree more so ESC has donated the funds to increase our free bulbs to 200!

The 25watt blue porch lights, retail at $3.19, are being made available for free to those South City residents who attended the vigil. To claim your light please contact Everything South City HERE so we can add your name to our list. Give away will start on Wed December 7th.

Once we have gifted the lights to those on this list we will make available any we might have left for our general community that were not able to attend last Monday’s event at our Police Station. The Blue Light also signifies the sacrifice of our fallen officers whom we also honor with gratitude.

We greatly appreciate our local small businesses and thank Nick Tentes and Grand Ave Hardware for their continued support in our community. Please support those who support us! Stop by *315 Grand Avenue and say hi to Nick – he just might have a few bulbs to give away!

UPDATE: please note address correction is 315 Grand Ave (306 was Nick’s former store directly across the street. If you have not yet visited the new store, do so. It is the best!)
