SSFPD Media Release: Hazardous Condition

South San Francisco, CA   September 14, 2017   Submitted by SSFPD 

On September 14, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the South San Francisco Police Department was conducting an unrelated investigation at a freight forwarding company located at 325 Corey  Way, when they located suspicious chemicals and materials within the building. Police and fire department personnel were unable to immediately identify the substances and as a result approximately 10 employees were evacuated for precautionary reasons. Several of the surrounding businesses were notified of the on-going investigation and several of the businesses chose to self-evacuate as well.

 

At this time (2:30pm 9/14/2017) the scene is still active with police and fire personnel on-scene conducting an investigation. The public is being asked to  stay out of the area until the scene is stabilized, and there are no reported  injuries at this time.
