SSFUSD Update on Measure J and School Construction Titled: The Measure J Bond Program is Moving Forward

The Measure J Bond Program is Moving Forward

1. The Board of Trustees dissolved relationship with original program Contractor
   1. Closeout of work and completion of punch list items are underway
   2. Reserve funds to close out original construction contract have been set aside
2. A new consulting Program Manager was hired and started in February to move program forward
3. Project budgets from remaining funds have been developed to complete priority projects

a. $13.5 million budget for projects

4. Priority criteria adopted by the Board to complete projects that are already underway
   1. Buri Buri Elementary where construction has stopped with significant disruption

      to the site is to be completed

   2. Parkway Heights Middle School where only a portion of the buildings were

      completed will have a smaller scope of work to modernize an existing classroom

      wing and finish site work

   3. Projects at two other sites that were not started have been suspended
5. The new Project Delivery Method was approved by the Board
   1. Construction Management, Multiple prime packages, rather than use of a single

      Contractor

   2. Smaller contracts, bid packages to expedite priority work to ensure student safety

      and site access

6. The Project Frog modular system, to be utilized for completion of Buri Buri

a. This allows the re-use of existing Division of State Architect approved plans and will allow quicker resumption of the work

7. Contracts for Architectural, Engineering services have been awarded for completion of priority projects
8. A new in-house District Construction Manager has been hired to coordinate the remaining construction
9. Buri Buri projects status-
   1. Sitework Project for student safety & access is currently out to bid
   2. Demolition, Site clearance, and Re-grading of lower fields area is in final design

      and ready to bid in July

   3. Building completion project for Multi-Purpose, Library, Parking Lot and Quad is in

      repackaging phase and ready to bid in October

   4. Building signage package is complete, out for proposals
   5. Administration Building entry canopy is in design phase
10. Buri Buri Construction Advocacy Committee has been meeting with the Program Manager, Principal—with one Board member representative in attendance to hear concerns and share feedback to the Board
11. Parkway projects status-
    1. 6 Portables on lower site have been vacated and are not needed—they will be

       removed and the area cleared for PE use

    2. Construction fencing not needed is being removed
    3. Modernization of the existing 10 classroom wing is beginning design
    4. Site work will include parking and drive paving at the West Campus area,

       completion of the pickup and plaza area at front of school

    5. Campus painting to coordinate with new buildings is set for summer 2017
12. Buri Buri and Parkway—coordination with District Facilities to ensure weed abatement and general site cleanup are completed prior to opening of school
