UPDATE: CPUC Requests Public Input On CALWATER Rate Increase

South San Francisco, CA   September 29, 2016

UPDATE: On October 5th, in response to our reminder post on our social media, California Water Service offered clarification: Hi Everything South City, just wanted to clarify that this revenue increase % was our original filing (pre-settlement) company-wide to make improvements to and operate all of our water systems across the state. For our Bayshore service area, in the settlement agreement filed recently, the revenue increase would be 0.6% in 2017, 2.5% in 2018, and 1.7% in 2019 so that we can upgrade the system to keep it safe and reliable for our customers. The California Public Utilities Commission still has to vote on this settlement, which we expect to be in late 2016.

Our query to CPUC requesting the reason why there was a huge difference in the percentages quoted received this response: The CPUC used the information from California Water Service’s General Rate Case application (A1507015) to provide sufficient notice to Cal Water customers of Public Participation Hearings in all of the water company’s service territories. The CPUC understands that revisions pertaining to each district may occur between the time of the company’s original filing and each Public Participation Hearing held, so any updates to specific districts are addressed by the parties at the public meetings.
